Gyeongseong Creature Season 2 ending: Tested loyalty and a car crash

Gyeongseong Creature Season 2 ending explained: Can Chae-ok be saved?

The opening scene of Gyeongseong Creature Season 2’s finale finds Chae-ok struggling from the debris of a dangerous car accident. As she strives to reach safety, Seung-Jo appears, reminiscing about the thrill he derives from pursuit and taking lives.

Chae-ok encourages him to understand that Lady Madea, who has been like a mother to him, might be taking advantage of him. Interestingly, he acknowledges that he is aware of how his biological mother, Akiko, passed away, and surprisingly, it doesn’t seem to bother him much.

Seung-Jo asserts that his actions were motivated by necessity and Ho-Jae’s (whom we know as Tae-Sang in Season 2, but for simplicity, we’ll stick to Ho-Jae hereafter) wellbeing.

The camera shifts focus to Noh Ji-Su, positioned across the street, poised for action. She retrieves Seung-Jo’s eye as Chae-ok warns that Master Jang might express disapproval.

The girls flee swiftly, with Chae-ok urging Noh Ji-Su to distance herself greatly. Mysterious entities attack Seung-Jo, leading to a brutal battle filled with violence.

In the meantime, Ho-Jae and Captain are locked in a personal battle. Captain warns that Madea will harm everyone near him. We witness brief scenes of Kwon Yong-Gil pleading for mercy for Ho-Jae, with Madea questioning if he’s prepared to wager his life on it.

Shift focus towards Maedea’s contemporary hideout, reminiscent of a Bond villain’s secret stronghold. Here, Maedea and Ho-Jae confront each other, and the hidden truth unravels.

She delivers an impassioned discourse on the value of all human lives (to be honest, I’m not quite sure what she’s getting at), yet she places Ho-Jae in a challenging position where he must choose which of three lives to save or prioritize. Elsewhere in the building, Chae-ok has been captured, Kwon Yong-Gil is receiving medical care, and child Number 71, while not lost, is… somewhere, but definitely not missing.

In this scenario, Madea believes Ho-Jae will ultimately pick Chae-ok, regardless of any memory loss. At the same time, both Chae-ok and Ho-Jae engage in physical confrontations, with Chae-ok defending herself against monsters and Ho-Jae directly attacking Madea. However, the Captain tries to convince Chae-ok that Ho-Jae has preferred others over her, but she remains skeptical about this information.

A brutal yet unexpected death

In this installment of Gyeongseong Creature, it’s predictable that Ho-Jae will confront and defeat each monstrous being he encounters as he journeys to rescue Chae-ok.

Nevertheless, Madea isn’t securing a straightforward win. Instead, she introduces nitrogen gas into the room where Ho-Jae is located, and just barely, he manages to exit before the situation becomes lethal. Trapped individuals are warned by Ho-Jae on how to reach safety. Simultaneously, he sets off towards Chae-ok.

Currently, Captain has Chae-ok confined within an aquarium following their recent discussion, her body bearing wounds and bruises. The temperature inside is decreasing steadily, hinting at a slow, deliberate method of taking her life. As she lies unconscious, she shares with Ho-Jae memories of their Season 2 romance and the dreams they once shared together.

At this stage, Seung-Jo has shown up, and it’s evident that the remarks Chae-ok made about Madea in the opening scene are still troubling him deeply. He queries Madea if she truly viewed him as a son, to which she responds by implying he has mainly served as an instrument in her own development process.

Following some emotionally charged statements, the duo attempt to connect through an embrace, but it escalates into a tense impasse instead. A struggle ensues, leading to Madea losing balance and falling into a nearby pit, ultimately resulting in her demise. Seung-Jo watches from above as she seemingly finds peace, her face illuminated with a smile as she fades away.

Don’t panic – Chae-ok is still alive

The Captain seems oblivious to the situation involving Madea and instead concentrates on Chae-ok’s apprehension. As Najin encircles her, he observes with keen interest, stating that he will claim it when she has perished.

Stepping up to the plate, it’s me, Ho-Jae, ready to take down Captain. With a quick strike, he brings him down. Yet, what I witness next leaves me astonished – the way Chae-ok is being treated.

In a desperate move since he had no other choices, Ho-Jae forcefully smashes the glass as hard as possible to shatter it and free Chae-ok. As he strikes, vivid memories of their most personal moments from Season 2 replay in his mind, and finally, the glass splinters.

It appears that the danger posed by Madea has come to an end as police officers arrive and find Ho-Jae’s earlier instructed prisoners waiting outside. The police mention they need to perform an immediate search, but they’ll require a warrant first. Chae-ok’s rescue reveals a creature named Najin on the floor in a puddle.

The star-crossed lovers share one last look

In the finale of Gyeongseong Creature Season 2, we jump back to contemporary Korea. It’s as if everyone has forgotten the past events, even characters like Chae-ok who now acts like an ordinary city girl, fretting over her drinks running out instead of monsters or Ho-Jae.

Her family ask her if she has a boyfriend, to which she says no.

Yet, she clarifies that she harbors a vision in which she pursues someone unfamiliar to her. Simultaneously, we observe her strolling along the street, casting furtive looks over her shoulder towards something unseen.

From among the gathering, a figure steps forward, revealing himself to be Ho-Jae, and they exchange a long-familiar smile. The scene then dissolves into darkness.
