Monster Hunter Wilds Trailer Shows Why It Might Finally Be The Time To Jump In

As a seasoned gamer with a soft spot for Capcom’s epic monster-slaying saga, Monster Hunter, I can’t help but feel a surge of excitement upon witnessing the first glimpse into Monster Hunter Wilds. The latest installment seems to be a carefully crafted symphony of accessibility and depth, designed to entice both newcomers and veterans alike.

Newcomers to Capcom’s Monster Hunter series might find it daunting due to its rich history and colossal creatures. Yet, the sneak peek at the upcoming game, Monster Hunter Wilds, seems specifically designed for both beginners and seasoned gamers. Essentially, it serves as a beginner’s guide, orchestrated by the in-game character Alma.

In simpler terms, the main character in this story is a Hunter embarking on a trek through the Forbidden Territories. Accompanying the Hunter are Alma, a skilled blacksmith, Gemma, another woman with smithing abilities, and a Palico, a cat-like ally who assists in fights, much like in the previous world. Other groups, including one aiming to reunite a young boy named Nata with his tribe and defeat Arkveld, the White Phantom Monster, are also part of this expedition.

As the explorers interact with the game’s inhabitants, they’ll gradually adjust to the team’s presence, requiring players to modify their strategies accordingly. Moreover, the diverse landscapes within the Forbidden Lands influence the style of combat encounters. In addition, surviving in this wild environment necessitates a Hunter relying on their Palico companion for food gathering assistance.

In addition to the game mechanics, there’s a unique bond between the player’s character (the Hunter) and their mount, the Seikret – resembling a bird with two legs that can be ridden like a horse. In challenging situations during combat with monsters, the Seikret has the ability to whisk the player away from danger. Conversely, the Hunter can call for aid in battle to prevent being overpowered or defeated by threats too powerful to face alone.

Monster Hunter Wilds is set to launch for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and computer systems on the 28th of February, 2025.
