Team Behind Biggest Scam of Recent Years Is Back. The Day Before Devs Argue That „Everyone Deserves a Second Chance”

As a seasoned gamer with a memory that stretches back to the days of dial-up internet and pixelated graphics, I have to say, Fntastic 2.0’s re-emergence on the gaming scene is as unexpected as a pop-up ad during a Netflix binge. The developers’ audacity to ask for a “second chance” after the debacle that was The Day Before is nothing short of breathtaking. It’s like inviting a cat back into your home after it’s peed on your favorite rug… twice!

I, a gamer, am thrilled to share that my favorite apocalypse survival game, The Day Before, is making a comeback! My beloved dev team, Team Fntastic, has returned with a fresh project and a crowdfunding campaign. They’ve taken to social media asking players like me for another opportunity to be part of this epic adventure in their latest posts. Can’t wait to see what they’ve got planned!

In this situation, the developer is opting for a risk-taking strategy, assuring that if the project, in this case, “The Day Before,” does not succeed, they will return the funds collected. However, should the project be successful, it means additional games from the studio can be anticipated. All contributions made are dedicated solely towards the game’s development without any intention of profit-making. The team is also accountable for the failure of “The Day Before.

Fntastic 2.0 didn’t impress players

It’s clear that the unveiling of Fntastic 2.0 didn’t elicit mere indifference from players; it was met with a level of disinterest that is quite remarkable. The developer’s posts on X platform have garnered more comments than likes, and the Kickstarter campaign for their new title, Escape Factory, has attracted support from a surprisingly small number – twelve individuals. What’s more, this group of twelve has already pledged $520 towards the developers’ target of $20,000.

from the choice of colors in the new logo to promises of change and professionalism, admissions of errors, and plans to make games that will be cherished for generations, all while asking players for their support, even financially.

This game developed by the team was mired in controversy even before its launch, and it didn’t last long after it went live either. However, its servers managed to stay active longer than Concord’s, which is perhaps the only aspect that makes TDB seem a little better – when comparing it to a title that many players believe was one of the biggest flops from the past decade.

Second or another chance?

Many online users find themselves far from pleased and dismayed by the unveiling of Fntastic 2.0 and the request for a “second chance”. Consequently, there’s little necessity to highlight specific criticisms.

The studio has developed other games, though none have matched the success of The Day Before. Some were even discontinued before the studio shut down, and several were criticized for what’s often called “asset flipping” – essentially, using pre-made assets instead of creating unique models.

Fall Guys 2.0

It appears that similar accusations surround the Fntastic 2.0 project. Escape Factory, too, seems to utilize pre-made assets, and its gameplay structure seems to mimic that of Fall Guys.

The game is designed for multiplayer interaction where players aim to flee from a factory, encountering intriguing obstacles built on a realistic physics system along the way. While the Steam previews don’t show the character’s view from behind, they still evoke images of the studio’s previous work, with a more strategic top-down perspective and a less vibrant visual style.

The two allegations have further fueled the growing distrust and disdain towards the revamped, professional, and honest Fntastic Studio in its 2.0 update.

Incidentally, neither The Day Before nor Propnight are expected to make a return, according to updates from their new studio’s official site.
