Blizzard Is Developing New StarCraft Game. Former Far Cry Brand Leader Is in Charge of Shooter, Claims Jason Schreier

As a seasoned gamer with decades of gaming under my belt, I can’t help but feel a surge of excitement at the prospect of a new StarCraft game, especially one that seems to be dipping its toes into the FPS genre. The rumors swirling around about this project have me on the edge of my seat, and the involvement of Dan Hay, who masterminded the Far Cry series, only adds fuel to the fire.

There’s some movement now with the dormant StarCraft brand, as Microsoft revealed yesterday that both games from the series are joining their Game Pass library in November. Additionally, whispers have emerged suggesting a potential new shooter game could be under development within this universe.

  1. The rumors are credible because their source is a very well-respected journalist, Jason Schreier.
  2. The Blizzard Entertainment studio is reportedly in the early stages of developing a shooter set in the universe of the StarCraft series, according to his information.
  3. The team working on this project is to be headed by Dan Hay, who until recently was the lead developer managing the entire Far Cry series.

It’s noteworthy that whispers regarding Blizzard’s fresh shooter emerged last month. Yet, back then, we were unaware that it was a game based on the StarCraft universe or that Dan Hay was associated with its development.

Third time’s a charm

In a new twist of events, Blizzard is embarking on its third endeavor to create a game similar to this one. The initial and most prominent effort was StarCraft: Ghost, which was unveiled in 2002 but ultimately shelved. Their second shot was the Ares project, inspired by the Battlefield series, that spanned from 2017 to 2019.

It’s likely that the third endeavor to create a shooter set in the StarCraft universe will be the successful one and see completion this time around.
