Country Music Favorite Elizabeth Cook-Starring Telluride Hit ‘The Easy Kind’ Nabbed by Visit Films for World Sales (EXCLUSIVE)

As a seasoned movie critic with a penchant for independent films and a soft spot for stories that resonate deeply, I find myself drawn to “The Easy Kind.” Having spent years immersed in the ever-evolving world of cinema, I can confidently say that this film stands out as a unique and compelling addition to the indie scene.

The independent sales company, Visit Films based in New York City, has obtained global distribution rights for the movie “The Easy Kind,” featuring country artist Elizabeth Cook. This comes after the film’s successful debut at the Telluride Film Festival.

In the movie, Cook embodies a fictionalized character based on herself, delving into the struggles of a musician confronting midlife and an industry that hasn’t fully appreciated her skills yet. Alongside her, Susie Essman, David Letterman, Karen Allen, Charles Esten, Melissa Jackson, and Catherine Curtin make up the rest of the talented cast.

The movie marks the first full-length narrative work by acclaimed documentary director Katy Chevigny. She has previously directed two Emmy-winning episodes of “Home” for A24 and AppleTV+, and collaborated on the Emmy-nominated documentary “E-Team.

The film titled ‘The Easy Kind’ is manufactured by Chevigny’s Big Mouth Productions, in collaboration with Forager Films, Mystic Entertainment, and Love Today Productions. The producers behind this project are Chevigny, Peter Gilbert, Nikhil Melnechuk, and Natalie Farrey. A fresh original song by Cook called ‘The Easy Kind’ is also included in the movie.

Chevigny expressed his delight on behalf of the whole film crew, saying they are delighted to collaborate with Visit Films, a group that has consistently supported visionary filmmakers who dare to think and create beyond conventional boundaries.

President Ryan Kampe stated, “Cook’s exceptional talent combined with Chevigny’s compassionate guidance has resulted in a remarkable movie that seamlessly merges fiction and real-life fame.

In my review, I’d like to highlight the impressive lineup of talent in this film, skillfully assembled by Caroline Sinclair, CSA. Michael Cook, represented by Paradigm Talent/Wasserman Music and Hillpeople Management, delivers a captivating performance. Similarly, Linda Essman, managed by LKE Management, brings her unique charm to the screen. The legendary David Letterman, represented by CAA, adds his timeless wit, while Jerry Allen, repped by Paradigm and Authentic, is a standout.

Films recently obtained international distribution rights for the San Sebastián film “Surfacing” (also known as “La Llegada Del Hijo”), produced by Cecilia Atán and Valeria Pivato, while also securing worldwide sales rights, with exceptions in German-speaking Europe and Benelux, to Simon Jaquemet’s Locarno film titled “Electric Child”.
