Georgie & Mandy spinoff confirms Young Sheldon Thanksgiving reunion, but someone is missing

As a seasoned gamer of sitcoms who has witnessed the rise and fall (and rise again) of many beloved families, I must say, I am thrilled to see the Coopers back together for another reunion! The absence of Sheldon in the Georgie & Mandy spinoff was a bit concerning, but now that we know he’ll be joining the festivities, my excitement is skyrocketing.

It’s great news that the Cooper family has reunited once more! However, it appears that George won’t feature in the Georgie & Mandy spinoff. Yet, one more character from the Young Sheldon Thanksgiving gathering is still absent.

As we move step by step towards the first marriage of Georgie and Mandy, fans are eagerly gathering information. However, the actors and producers are already planning for Episode 5.

The first episode of the series premieres on CBS on October 17th. This follows shortly after the end of Young Sheldon’s Season 7 and the character George’s passing. By the fourth episode, we’ll have a special Thanksgiving episode.

The centerpiece? It will also be a Young Sheldon cast reunion.

Before Episode 5, it was previously known that Meemaw (Annie Potts) and Mary (Zoe Perry) would appear in Episode 1, with Missy (Raegan Revord) appearing in Episode 2. However, the idea of the entire group reuniting wasn’t anticipated… until this point.

In a recent TikTok video shared by Potts, it appears that both the Cooper and McAllister families gathered at Georgie and Jim’s home, accompanied by Meemaw’s boyfriend, Dale. However, one key member seems to be absent – Sheldon.

It’s not unexpected, given that he was last seen heading to CalTech for further education in Season 7, Episode 14. Yet, this doesn’t imply any strained relationships within his family.

Even though the final episode of Young Sheldon marked a transition in Sheldon’s academic journey, passing it on to The Big Bang Theory, it’s likely that he’d still yearn to return home to be with his mother and siblings.

At this moment, it’s uncertain whether or how Sheldon’s absence will be addressed, but as shared by actor Iain Armitage, he would be thrilled to return to the set whenever possible.

In a conversation with TV Line, he shared: “Should I receive an invitation to return, it would be absolutely thrilling! I’m equally eager to relax on my sofa, munching on popcorn, and enjoy their excellent series.

Without a doubt, I can envision myself donning khaki clothes once more, slipping into my classic penny loafers and a bow tie, and returning to work.

There’s no specific date announced yet for the Thanksgiving episode, but given that the new series featuring Georgie and Mandy is set to air weekly, it’s likely to be shown sometime in mid-November.

On October 17th, “Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage” makes its debut on screens. Discover the reasons behind the absence of “Young Sheldon” Season 8, the misstep in choosing the characters for a spinoff, and more TV series available for streaming this month.
