‘Joker: Folie à Deux’ Joins San Sebastian Festival Roster as Surprise Film

As a cinema enthusiast with years of film appreciation under my belt, I must say that I am thoroughly excited about Todd Phillips’ upcoming musical sequel “Joker: Folie à Deux”. Having witnessed the groundbreaking success and impact of its predecessor, “Joker”, I eagerly anticipate the continued exploration of this fascinating character. The fact that it is starring the talented duo, Lady Gaga and Joaquin Phoenix, only adds to my excitement.

The wicked, tune-filled follow-up to Todd Phillips’ “Joker” titled “Joker: Duet of Madness,” is set to be screened at the San Sebastian Festival as the unanticipated movie for this year’s 72nd installment.

The film, featuring Lady Gaga and Joaquin Phoenix, made its global debut at the Venice Film Festival and held its North American debut in Toronto. On the following day, Saturday, it will be screened twice at the San Sebastian festival.

Folie à Deux” is the sequel to Phillips’ 2019 movie “Joker,” which initially screened at Venice and was awarded the esteemed Golden Lion, later unexpectedly joining the San Sebastian Film Festival program.

2019’s film “Joker” achieved the sixth-highest box office earnings and garnered two Academy Awards: one for Joaquin Phoenix’s outstanding acting portrayal, and another for Hildur Guðnadóttir’s exceptional original score. It received a grand total of 11 Oscar nominations, making it the first DC Comics film to receive such recognition, notably in the best picture category.

More to come.
