As a seasoned Guardian with countless hours spent traversing the cosmos in Destiny 2, I can wholeheartedly say that Bungie’s decision to address crouch spamming is a breath of fresh air. For too long, console players like myself have had to contend with the occasional Ximmer, manipulating their hitbox and turning the Crucible into an unfair battlefield.
Players using Guardians are delighted as developers of Destiny 2 confirmed their plans to reduce excessive crouching (crouch spamming), thereby creating a more balanced gaming experience between console and PC users.
In Destiny 2, Player versus Player (PvP) has been something of a puzzle. Given that the game emphasizes acquiring weapons with random attributes, each featuring perks capable of significantly altering its performance, this results in a challenging balancing act for developers Bungie. One weapon could be useless in PvE but devastating against other players, while another might be worthless in PvP but excel in PvE.
In crafting The Final Shape, Bungie put a strong emphasis on wrapping up the narrative aspects of the looter-shooter gameplay. Consequently, other features like Player versus Player (PvP) and Gambit took a back seat during development, allowing the team to cater more to fans who enjoy Player versus Environment (PvE).
With “Episodes: Revenant” approaching, Bungie has rolled out numerous adjustments to Player vs Player (PvP) gameplay, and there’s one change that’s been particularly popular among the community.
In future episodes, including Revenant, developers of Destiny 2 plan to limit the number of times you can crouch in quick succession. This change aims to make “Hold to Crouch” and “Toggle Crouch” function similarly, as stated in their September 26th Tweet.
The objective here is to minimize unnecessary crouching in Crucible gameplay, whether it’s done manually or using shortcuts (macros). We may adjust the settings as necessary to discourage such behavior.
The guardians expressed satisfaction with this alteration because it lessened the chance for gamers to maneuver their hitbox unfairly, thereby making the gameplay more equitable for console players, who occasionally encounter a formidable ‘ximmer’.
Kudos to Bungie for enacting this change. I never thought I’d see it happen, but I’m very pleasantly surprised.

In a recent response, a Guardian stated, “It’s time for everyone to play fairly again instead of relying on hitbox manipulation.” Another concurred, saying, “Excellent point.
As a devoted console player, I couldn’t help but feel a surge of excitement when I saw Ximmers flocking to the subreddit to voice their displeasure about the recent change.
One individual noted, “There will likely be many users flooding the subreddit once the Ximmer is launched.” Another excitedly added, “Many fans of the SMG Xim will probably become overwhelmed.
The change is also a major nerf to anyone who was using input macros to help them crouch in-game, which Bungie has been cracking down on.
This adjustment doesn’t influence the process of steeping tea nor Player versus Environment (PvE) interactions; consequently, feel at liberty to show off bad manners, disrespect, and low crouching as much as you wish. However, remember not to overuse it during firefights.
