Disgraced devs of The Day Before return with new Kickstarter & “recovery” plan

As a seasoned gamer with a decade of experience under my belt, I can’t help but be intrigued by Fntastic’s comeback attempt. The Day Before left a sour taste in many gamers’ mouths, but if there’s one thing we love, it’s a good second chance.

After a period of absence following the controversy surrounding their game and studio closure, The Day Before developers have resurfaced with a fresh Kickstarter initiative and a strategy for recovery.

Do you recall the game titled “The Day Before” from Fntastic? In case you’ve missed updates, this title faced numerous challenges during development and received a less-than-satisfactory response upon release. Critics pointed out asset-flipping issues and game-breaking bugs, causing some to label it as questionable or even deceitful.

Approximately nine months after the permanent closure of the servers, the developers of The Day Before have re-emerged. They’re now presenting a “Recovery Plan” and have initiated a Kickstarter campaign for a brand new game.

In the article, they expressed: “Everyone merits a fresh opportunity. We sincerely regret any inconvenience caused by ‘The Day Before’, and we accept full accountability for the events that unfolded. Take a look at our new strategy, Fntastic 2.0, where we outline our steps to rectify past errors and our commitment to making improvements.

Every individual merits another opportunity, and we sincerely regret the events of The Day Before. The plan outlined the team’s “key goals for 2024-2025,” along with other modifications they intend to make. Additionally, developers are encouraging players to aid in the revival of Fntastic and have unveiled a Kickstarter campaign for a game titled Escape Factory.

This game centers around a “multiplayer cooperative experience based on physics,” taking place within hazardous manufacturing facilities, designed for 4 to 8 participants. In terms of playstyle, the game appears to share similarities with Fall Guys, featuring numerous challenges and platforming hurdles to navigate.

Individuals who wish to support this venture can commence their pledges starting at $3 for unique game titles, all the way up to $12,000 which includes being credited in the game, dining with the creators, and additional benefits.

As per the developers’ plans, they intend to unveil the complete edition of the game in December 2024. However, there might be a scenario where delays occur due to technical problems, potentially pushing the release date into January or February 2025.

In terms of learning from past errors, developers have pledged to uphold “truthful advertising,” actively interact with our community via Discord, regularly share development updates, and carry out beta testing prior to the main release.
