‘Spiced-Coke kid’ goes viral after mistaking Coca-Cola flavor for alcohol

As a seasoned observer of human antics and blunders, I find the tale of the ‘Spiced-Coke kid’ absolutely delightful. It’s not every day you come across a youngster who mistakes a can of Coca-Cola for a bottle of alcohol or a stash of recreational drugs!

People using TikTok affectionately dubbed a young boy as ‘Spiced-Coke kid’ following a popular video where he thought the soda was alcohol.

A young lad was extremely distressed after accidentally drinking alcohol, as seen in a TikTok video posted by his aunt, Morgan Deardeuff, where he expressed his worries over a beverage that had been given to him.

As a concerned aunt, I found myself curious when my nephew mentioned his friends had an unintentional experience with alcohol the previous night. So, I inquired if he could share with me the beverage they consumed.

As I sat down, my nephew eagerly pulled out his phone to look up what drink we were about to share. His confusion quickly turned into laughter bubbling within him, which I tried hard not to join in on. It wasn’t long before I realized that his amusement stemmed from a mix-up – the name of this beverage had him puzzled!

As it turned out, I mistakenly believed the chilled can of Coca-Cola labeled “Spiced” was actually spiked with alcohol. Afraid of getting into trouble, I chose not to take a sip.

It sounds like that’s the beverage children your age were consuming last night, isn’t it? Yet, you didn’t partake in it, correct?” This is how I would rephrase Morgan’s question in a more natural and easy-to-read manner.

“No, I was about to,” her nephew, who TikTokers named the ‘Spiced-Coke kid,’ answered.

The boy mentioned that some children mistakenly believed the drink contained a recreational substance, similar to ‘spice,’ which is why he suggested they might be acting foolish.

Later on, he shared an amusing story about why him and his friends were initially thinking of trying the drink. Essentially, after consuming a nut with ghost pepper, everyone became thirsty. Since he had the last bottle of water, they mistakenly believed it to be spice when all that was left in the mini-fridge was this drink.

Following the widespread popularity of Morgan’s heartwarming video featuring her nephew, they both conducted a tasting experiment with Coca-Cola Spiced and posted their findings on TikTok.

“He finally worked up the courage to try the Spiced-Coke,” Morgan captioned her video.

Doubtful that he was being deceived, the boy with a drink named Spiced-Coke carefully inspected the soda box to confirm there was no trickery involved.

“This smells like alcohol!” he exclaimed.

Upon my aunt’s persuasive nudge, I eventually gave the Coca-Cola Spiced a try. “Yuck!” was my immediate reaction after taking a sip.

Audience found that moment amusing, and many remarked on how endearing his hesitance seemed. One viewer even stated, “His checking the ingredients before drinking it perfectly encapsulates the situation.

“He really thinks you’re trying to get him drunk,” added another with laughing-face emojis.

It’s good news for the young lad that Coca-Cola Spiced was pulled from shelves this September, sparing him potential confusion between the soda and alcoholic beverages or other substances. In addition, Diet Coke with Splenda and Cherry Vanilla Coke have also been discontinued by Coca-Cola.

If you’re a fan of sodas looking for a new twist, the Oreo Coke Zero collaboration has been quite popular. Many people describe its flavor as reminiscent of Vanilla Coke, though it’s only available for a limited time.
