Horizon Zero Dawn's Price Just Doubled On PlayStation And PC

As a seasoned gamer with a memory that stretches back to the days of the original PlayStation, I must confess my initial excitement for Horizon Zero Dawn’s remaster has taken a slight hit due to this recent price increase. I remember the joy of snagging games at bargain prices during sales, and it feels a bit like a punch in the wallet to see the digital version double from $20 to $40.

Without any fanfare, the cost of Horizon Zero Dawn on the PlayStation Store has subtly increased twofold since Sony unveiled its PS5 remake version earlier this week.

Initially priced at $20, Horizon Zero Dawn’s digital version has recently been increased to $40, regardless of the region it’s being purchased in. This price adjustment applies to both the PlayStation and PC versions of the game currently available. Earlier this year, the game was taken off the PS Plus PlayStation Hits collection, fueling speculation about a potential PS5 remaster at that time.

As an enthusiastic gamer, I appreciate the thoughtful pricing strategy Sony has implemented. Initially, the remastered game costs $50, but for those who already own it on PS4 and PC, upgrading to the PS5 version is just a $10 investment. This move suggests that Sony wanted to prevent players from feeling they missed out on a deal if they had purchased the game earlier for $20. In this scenario, if I had bought the digital version at its original price, I would only need to shell out an additional $30 instead of the full $50 to enjoy the remastered experience on PS5.

On October 31st, Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered will be released, just before the family-friendly Lego Horizon Adventures. This updated version includes redone dialogues and graphical enhancements, as well as accessibility features that were introduced in its sequel, Horizon Forbidden West. In our review of Horizon Zero Dawn by TopMob, we stated, “Guerrilla Games has produced one of the finest open-world games of this generation, significantly enhancing their team’s standing within the industry.
