Tribeca Festival Sets June Dates and New Creators Forum

As a seasoned cinephile with decades of film festival attendance under my belt, I can confidently say that the 24th edition of the Tribeca Festival is shaping up to be an unmissable event for emerging and established filmmakers alike. The launch of the Creators Forum is a game-changer, offering opportunities for mentorship, networking, and creative support that are crucial for artists at every stage of their careers.

The Tribeca Festival has announced the 24th edition will take place June 4-15 in New York City.

On Thursday, Tribeca revealed fresh prospects for budding filmmakers to debut their projects and advance their careers via platforms like the first-ever Creators Forum. This multi-day event, tailored for the wider filmmaking fraternity, will offer discussions with industry veterans, group mentorship sessions, networking opportunities, and much more.

For close to 25 years, Tribeca has nurtured countless up-and-coming and underrepresented artists, many of whom have since achieved critical success and awards in their filmmaking careers. This tradition persists as we unveil our latest initiative: the Creators Forum,” stated Jane Rosenthal, CEO and Co-Founder of Tribeca. “As the entertainment industry progresses, we are committed to making it more inclusive for artists from diverse backgrounds, communities, and artistic fields. The inaugural Creators Forum aims to continue what Tribeca does best – fostering connections, offering mentorship, providing creative resources, and potentially altering someone’s career path.

Beyond the debut of the Creators Forum, the scope of the Short Films Program has been broadened to include entries that have been screened in New York City or online, making them eligible for non-competing review. Since 2002, this program has launched 23 Academy Award nominees and seven winners.

Tribeca has long been committed to making cinema available to everyone. The Tribeca Creators Forum and our expanded opportunities for works in progress and short films submissions aim to broaden this commitment even more, ensuring that Tribeca becomes as inclusive as possible towards creators at every stage of their journey and career,” said Cara Cusumano, Festival Director and SVP of Programming at Tribeca. “Regardless if your work is still in production, already online, or simply waiting for the ideal audience to be unveiled, Tribeca serves as a springboard for what’s coming next.

2024 marked a historic high for the Tribeca Festival, receiving over 13,000 film submissions and hosting close to 600 events that were attended by more than 145,000 people. Some of the world premieres showcased were “¡Casa Bonita Mi Amor!”, “Presumed Innocent”, “Brats”, “Sacramento” and “In the Arena: Serena Williams”. The festival also featured a lineup of retrospectives and live discussions, spotlighting Steven Spielberg, Martin Scorsese, Demi Moore, Andy Cohen and the cast of “The Sopranos.

The Tribeca Festival is overseen by a group of programming professionals, such as Cusumano, Frédéric Boyer (Artistic Director), Ben Thompson (VP of Shorts Programming), Liza Domnitz, Faridah Gbadamosi, Jarod Neece, and José F. Rodriguez (Senior Programmers), Casey Baron, Jason Gutierrez, Jonathan Penner, and Madison Egan (Programmers), Casey Baltes (VP of Games and Immersive), Davy Gardner (Curator of Audio Storytelling), Vincent Cassous (Music Programmer), Nancy Lefkowitz and Meredith Mohr (VPs of Artist Relations), as well as a team of associate programmers.
