Marvel Wants Hugh Jackman To Get An Oscar Nomination For Deadpool & Wolverine

As a seasoned gamer and movie enthusiast who has seen his fair share of superhero films, I can confidently say that Deadpool & Wolverine has been one of the most exciting additions to my cinematic journey this year. The raw energy, witty banter, and stellar performances by Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds have left me in awe, not to mention the mind-blowing special effects that truly bring these iconic characters to life.

The action-packed duo of Deadpool and Wolverine has been running strong for ten weeks in cinemas, even managing to secure a spot among the top five box office earners last weekend. However, with a digital release imminent, Marvel Studios’ first R-rated film is starting to wrap up its theatrical journey and is now focusing on awards season. And let me tell you, they have some pretty bold strategies for Hugh Jackman, who shares the limelight as one of the main characters.

Based on Variety’s report, Marvel intends to enter Hugh Jackman’s performance as Wolverine for the Best Supporting Actor nomination at the Oscars. Additionally, he could be nominated for similar awards from the Golden Globes, SAG Awards, and Critics Choice Awards. On the other hand, for the film’s lead actor Ryan Reynolds, Marvel will submit his name in the Best Actor category for a comedy or musical at the Golden Globes.

Achieving an Oscar nomination for Jackman would be quite an accomplishment, considering his previous Academy Award recognition was back in 2013 for the Les Misérables remake. Nevertheless, it seems that Deadpool & Wolverine might have a better chance of garnering Oscar success in the technical categories such as special effects, sound design, and production design.

It seems Marvel believes the Golden Globes might be open to nominating Deadpool and Wolverine in more general categories, like Best Comedy. Additionally, they could vie for recognition in the Golden Globe’s Cinematic and Box Office Achievement category, which Barbie won last year as its first recipient.

Beginning October 1, Deadpool and Wolverine become available digitally, while the Blu-ray and HD versions are scheduled for release on October 22.
