New Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater Trailer Has Everything But A Release Date

As a seasoned Metal Gear Solid fan who has lived through the trials and tribulations of Naked Snake’s journey in Snake Eater, it feels like a nostalgic rollercoaster to witness the remake, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater. The familiar betrayal, the elite Cobra Unit, the enigmatic Ocelot, and the tantalizing presence of Eva – it’s all there, just as I remember it.

Due to its re-release in the Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1, some fans who returned to the series in 2023 might find the plot of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater familiar. This is why the betrayal of Naked Snake in the upcoming remake, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, may evoke a sense of déjà vu, as it was first seen in the original game and a new trailer for it was recently unveiled at the Tokyo Games Show.

The new trailer offers little or no indication of actual gameplay, instead primarily focusing on the initial mission of the game where Naked Snake, who later becomes Big Boss, ventures behind the Iron Curtain to obtain a Russian scientist named Sokolov. This character is crucial in the game’s storyline as he is the inventor of the Shagohod, a nuclear tank that serves as the precursor for every Metal Gear that followed.

The trailer features Snake’s first encounter with Ocelot and offers a glimpse of the elite Cobra Unit. But more importantly, it reenacts Naked Snake’s betrayal at the hands of his mentor, The Boss, as she turns on her country and defects to Colonel Volgin’s renegade Soviet forces. From there, Snake’s mission takes a turn for the worse as Volgin launches a nuke that will have repercussions later in the game. To close out the trailer, Snake finally meets Eva, the double agent who proves to be his only reliable ally in the country.

In the remake of Metal Gear Solid 3, the original voice actors were kept for their respective characters. David Hayter voices Naked Snake, Lori Alan voices The Boss, Michael Bell voices The Fear, Richard Doyle plays The Fury, J. Grant Albrecht takes on The End, Neil Ross portrays Colonel Volgin, and Suzetta Miñet acts as Eva.

Konami hasn’t specified when Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater will hit the shelves, but rest assured, it will be playable on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and personal computers.
