Hotta Studio and Perfect World have shared fresh details about their latest open-world RPG using Unreal Engine 5, titled “Neverness to Everness“. They’ve debuted a new trailer highlighting the day-to-day gameplay in its central city Hethereau, as well as demonstrating how players can initiate an Esper Cycle by blending various character traits while battling enemies, by merging their attributes together during combat.

Among the standout aspects of Hotta Studio’s Neverness to Everness, they emphasize the player’s freedom to navigate the city streets of Hethereau at will. A sneak peek into this real-time gameplay action was also showcased during the trailer preview.

In their exploration of the city, various supernatural events might transpire, instantly altering the surroundings into a far eerier, dreamlike reality as it happens.

When facing opponents, players can make use of the Esper Cycle system during battles. By activating their character’s abilities and chaining attacks together, they can imbue enemies with distinct properties. When these characteristic traits interact, an Esper Cycle event may transpire.

Today, Hotta Studio unveiled a fresh Gameplay Trailer for their forthcoming supernatural urban open-world RPG titled Neverness to Everness (NTE). Built with Unreal Engine 5 and boasting advanced NVIDIA DLSS rendering and ray tracing tech, players can anticipate a captivating, top-tier gaming journey.

In NTE, an extraordinary world blends the everyday with the outlandish – a bustling city filled with peculiarities and inhabitants. As participants, you’ll make a dramatic entry into this city, utilizing your exceptional Esper powers to traverse and conquer the unforeseen peculiarities that lie ahead. NTE provides numerous lifestyle options for players to select: customize sports cars, run businesses, and immerse yourself in an exciting urban lifestyle tailored to your preferences.

Showcase of Esper Cycle and First Boss Fight

The latest gameplay video showcases a fresh fighting style called Esper Cycle. In this mode, players employ abilities and combos to assault enemies, imbuing them with their personal character traits. When neighboring traits from the cycle intertwine, they activate a potent synergy called the Esper Cycle, offering innovative battle options. Players can increase their Cycle Rate during combat, and once it’s fully charged, they can deploy the complete might of the Esper Cycle, granting them a significant strategic edge in fights.

Besides showcasing the gameplay, the trailer unveiled a fresh antagonist: Picture Frame, an eerie and enigmatic adversary. What was once an empty frame has now come alive, employing paint as its weapon in assaults. Throughout time, the artwork within frames has been cherished and protected, while the frames themselves are usually discarded or replaced. Now, these forgotten relics have gained a life of their own, seeking vengeance during periods of disorder and upheaval. Picture Frame introduces a mystical aspect to the game’s already captivating environment, providing players with a tough and visually stunning boss battle.

Seamless Integration of Supernatural Elements

The trailer showcased the game’s dedication towards offering a smoothly running experience, powered by Unreal Engine 5. Players can expect to encounter supernatural occurrences, ensuring smooth shifts between exploring the city and dealing with sudden irregularities. Regardless of whether they are wandering the streets or stepping into shops, NTE focuses on unbroken exploration, even in the face of technical difficulties. The development team emphasizes their goal of achieving a completely seamless gameplay experience to ensure a flawless and engaging adventure for players.

Immersive High-Freedom Experience in Urban Cityscapes

In the bustling metropolis of Hethereau, NTE offers an immersive setting where players can delve into a finely crafted world, venturing freely at any time of day or night. The interactive weather system elevates gameplay, giving the city a sense of vitality and reactivity. Weather conditions significantly influence game mechanics, including vehicle control, thereby fostering a stronger bond between players and the city’s living environment.

In the sprawling metropolis of Hethereau, each character’s Esper power offers distinct methods to navigate, enriching and intensifying the exploration experience. A notable instance is Nanally’s Anti-Gravity talent, empowering players to glide above buildings and smoothly move around the city. This skill enables players to surmount ordinary obstacles and discover hidden paths, turning Hethereau into a vertical playground for adventure. With these powers, players can engage with the urban environment in novel ways, ensuring no corner of the city remains unexplored.

Q&A Session With Hotta Studio

1. The level of content in the open world is exceptionally high. Fans can’t help but compare it to GTA after experiencing it. How did you achieve such a high-quality open world?

A: We’ve seen many players comparing our game to GTA, and honestly, the team is quite flattered. We still have a long way to go to catch up.

When we set out to develop NTE, our vision wasn’t simply to create a vast open world, but to build a city that feels truly alive—a place players could lose themselves in, not just because of its size, but because of its depth. Every decision we made came back to one core objective: to create a more immersive and richly experiential urban environment.

2. The combat currently looks visually stunning, but the feel of the controls seems to have room for improvement. Will there be enhancements to the action gameplay? Are there any unique combat mechanics specific to NTE? How does the difficulty compare to other products?

A: The action gameplay is still undergoing continuous optimization and improvement. As a supernatural world, we place great importance on combat mechanics based on “Esper abilities” and “anomalies.” After the release of the first trailer, we collected player feedback on combat interactions, targeting, effects, and more, and we will implement adjustments in future updates.

3. Regarding games made with UE5, we have significant concerns about mobile adaptation. Can you share any plans in this area? Will the gaming experience for mobile players be comparable to that of PC players? Additionally, will the game size be large? Players have expressed concerns about their phones being unable to support a large game file.

A: Optimizing the multi-platform gaming experience is a priority for us, and it’s quite a challenge in the project’s development. Rest assured, we will do our utmost to ensure a smooth experience across all devices.

4. How will the connection with other players be shown? Will only some players share the same space, or will users share the world in certain areas while still enjoying their own stories?

A: This aspect is still in development, so we can’t disclose too much at this time. Overall, there won’t be mandatory interactions between players. However, you can show your friends the customized homes and modified vehicles in Hethereau, and take them for a drive—these activities will definitely be possible.

5. Finally, is there anything special you would like to say to all players?

A: We are committed to understanding what players around the world want and expect as we create a unique urban fantasy open-world game. Throughout development, we’ve put player experience first, aiming to deliver an immersive supernatural city that’s truly special to NTE. Since our first trailer, we’ve received a lot of feedback and support, which means the world to us. Thank you for your patience and trust as we keep improving and innovating. Your enthusiasm drives us, and we look forward to sharing this fantasy world with you. We hope this game lives up to your expectations!
