As a seasoned gamer with countless hours clocked into FIFA games, I must say EA FC 25’s Rush mode has been a breath of fresh air. However, it’s like dipping a toe into a pristine pool only to find a stubborn otter hoarding all the pebbles at the bottom.
The compact Rush mode introduced by EA FC at the 25th minute mark is receiving rave reviews from the gaming community, yet it’s being marred by some players who stubbornly refuse to share the ball during these short-form games.
This year’s game features a fresh 5v5 mode known as Rush, which replaced Volta. It has been skillfully incorporated into all aspects of the game. In Pro Clubs, it serves as an excellent platform to enhance your player and acquire prizes, while in Ultimate Team, it offers unique challenges to conquer and rewards to earn.
In our EA FC 25 evaluation, we stated that this update is among the most enjoyable and impressive in years, particularly when you can gather a complete team of friends to play together. On the other hand, jumping into a Rush game with strangers can turn out to be a rather frustrating ordeal.
In most of my games without teammates, at least one player persistently refuses to pass the ball, even when there’s plenty of open space and advantageous positions for their teammates.
Rather than grabbing the ball from our goalie and going on a solo dash, aiming to dribble past every defender before taking my shot, this approach not only gives well-coordinated teams an upper hand but also drives the rest of us mad enough to mimic it, too.
Many others aren’t solitary in their struggles with this problem too, seeing as social media has been flooded with grievances about the same matter since Electronic Arts Football Club 25 went live.
You’re allowed to pass on Rush.

One player commented on ‘Boombzy’s’ Reddit post, saying “In Rush, no one seems to pass; everyone I play with is trying to outmaneuver others by dribbling but ends up getting tackled and losing possession. It feels like they are being selfish.” Another user responded, “Man, it’s so frustrating! I always seem to be the only one left back to defend.
Another Reddit post stated, “Many games feature individuals grabbing every ball, firing long-range power shots excessively, and neglecting defense.” However, victories occur when everyone shows teamwork and plays unselfishly instead.
On X, there’s been a consistent sentiment among many gamers, as they’ve grown increasingly frustrated with the way Rush games are unfolding.

In contrast to typical EA Football Club (FC) 25 games, Rush does not provide extra benefits whether you win, lose, or earn a good score. Additionally, it only gives experience points (XP) when you personally score goals, with no XP rewards for defensive plays.
It’s likely that developers will tackle this problem in an upcoming release, possibly by introducing additional incentives or by creating tasks centered around passing and defensive skills instead.
