Andy Roddick to Star With Jake Johnson and Mary Steenburgen in Pickleball Comedy ‘The Dink,’ From Producer Ben Stiller

As an ardent fan of comedy, tennis, and stellar cast ensembles, I am absolutely thrilled about the upcoming pickleball comedy “The Dink.” The fusion of these elements, particularly with the addition of the charismatic Andy Roddick, former tennis champion, is a recipe for laughter-induced tears.

As a passionate movie enthusiast, I’m excited to share that I, along with other talented actors like Jake Johnson, Mary Steenburgen, and Ed Harris, will be part of the hilarious pickleball comedy, “The Dink.

Josh Greenbaum, the creative mind behind “Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar” and the forthcoming documentary “Will & Harper,” is taking the reins as director for an upcoming project. Ben Stiller’s production company, Red Hour Films, along with Rivulet Films, will be producing this film. Sean Clements, known for his work on “Workaholics” and “Kevin Can F**k Himself,” penned the screenplay for “The Dink.” Principal photography for this production is scheduled to start in Los Angeles this November.

In “The Dink,” Johnson takes on the role of a former tennis champion struggling to revive a troubled tennis club and earn his father’s admiration. However, circumstances compel him to go against a sacred promise and engage in something he pledged never to do – play pickleball. The identities of other players remain undisclosed, but Stiller is set to make an appearance as a supporting character.

In this venture, Rivulet is taking care of the entire financial aspect of the project. Meanwhile, our senior strategic advisor, Rick Steele, will join Sean Clements and Greenbaum as executive producers. Rob Paris and Mike Witherill from Rivulet, together with Stiller and John Lesher from Red Hour Films, will be responsible for production. Most recently, Stiller and Rivulet have been working together on director David Gordon Green’s family comedy “Nutcrackers,” which debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival and was sold to Hulu for a massive amount.

In addition to acting, Johnson will take on the role of a producer. He’s most recognized for portraying Nick Miller in the sitcom “New Girl” and providing the voice for a version of Peter Parker in Sony’s animated “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.” Recently, he wrote, starred in, and directed “Self Reliance,” a comedic thriller about an individual offered $1 million to play a game where he must outsmart assassins trying to kill him. The catch is that he can only be targeted when he’s alone. However, his friends and family refuse to accompany him because they doubt the authenticity of the game.

As a devoted fan, I’m excitedly looking forward to the upcoming season of “Severance,” directed by the hilarious Stiller, who’s known for comedic classics like “Zoolander” and “Tropic Thunder.” Meanwhile, the legendary actress, Joan Steenburgen, with her Oscar-winning roles in films such as “Melvin and Howard,” “Step Brothers,” “Elf,” and “Book Club,” is also set to appear. And let’s not forget the versatile Harris, recognized for his work in “The Hours,” “The Truman Show,” “Apollo 13,” and “Pollack.” He recently starred alongside Kristen Stewart in “Top Gun: Maverick” and the crime thriller “Love Lies Bleeding” produced by A24.
