Being a huge Star Wars fan and a gamer, I’m not surprised there are tons of little nods to the universe hidden in different video games. I mean, it’s such a massive franchise! You see everything from lightsabers that aren’t quite the real deal to recreations of that iconic scene of Luke getting frozen on Hoth – it’s awesome to spot those references while I’m playing.
But the Star Wars games are also packed with hidden surprises – often called Easter Eggs – that are fun to discover. These often playfully reference details from the Star Wars universe, include jokes from the game developers, or even make nods to other video games.
While a few Easter Eggs actually change how you play a game, most are just funny little surprises for players who enjoy thoroughly exploring the vast worlds these games offer.
10. The Lost Jedi Lightsaber
Republic Commando’s Views on the Jedi

Many Star Wars games let you play as a Jedi or Sith, but Star Wars: Republic Commando stands out as one of the best because it doesn’t. It even includes a playful nod to this very fact!
Players step into the role of RC-1138, known as Boss, and command Delta Squad, an elite group of Clone Commandos. Unlike many Clone units, they operate independently of the Jedi, relying on their training and teamwork to complete dangerous missions during the Clone Wars.
During the second mission aboard the RAS Prosecutor, players controlling Delta Squad will discover a ventilation shaft close to a barricade. There, they’ll find the body of a fallen Clone Trooper and a lightsaber. This scene prompts Boss to remark that the Clone Wars have descended into brutality, hinting at the Commandos’ general disapproval of the Jedi’s methods.
9. Boba Fett
Bounty Hunter’s Long-Awaited Completion Bonus
Although Mandalorians are very popular in the Star Wars universe, surprisingly few games let you play as these armored warriors. One notable example is Star Wars: Bounty Hunter, which features Jango Fett and takes place before the events of Attack of the Clones.
The 2002 game Bounty Hunter included many hidden secrets, or Easter Eggs. One particularly frustrating one for players was a message written in Aurebesh. When translated, it suggested that completing all the bounties in the game would unlock Boba Fett as a playable character – a promise that turned out to be false.
Even though a hidden reference to Boba Fett existed in the original Bounty Hunter game, players couldn’t control the character. This feature was added in 2024 with the remastered version of Bounty Hunter, but only after completing the game’s story mode once.
8. Jar Jar In Carbonite
The Force Unleashed’s Hilarious Gungan Fate
Game developers working on Star Wars titles sometimes include fun hidden surprises, called Easter Eggs, just to make players smile. A great example of this is finding Jar Jar Binks frozen in carbonite within Star Wars: The Force Unleashed.
As Starkiller searches for Princess Leia on Kashyyyk, players will come across Captain Ozzik Sturn’s trophy room. Inside, they’ll find the mounted heads of various Star Wars creatures, including a Krayt Dragon, a Wampa, and a Gorax – the large creatures that hunted Ewoks on the forest moon of Endor.
But Sturn’s favorite item is actually Jar Jar Binks, the often-criticized Gungan character. It’s a carbonite figurine of Jar Jar in a funny pose, and it surprisingly made many fans who disliked him in the prequel movies laugh when they played the game The Force Unleashed.
7. Indiana Jones
LEGO Star Wars’ Greatest Cameo
Traveller’s Tales often hides hints about their upcoming LEGO games within their current titles. For example, LEGO Jurassic World included a subtle reference to LEGO Dimensions. However, the most clever tease arguably came in LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga.
LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga combines the content of both LEGO Star Wars: The Video Game and LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy. The game’s central hub is the Mos Eisley Cantina, and hidden within it is a secret area. If you go to the back of the cantina and enter the room with a question mark, you’ll discover another room marked with a camera.
Players can watch a trailer for LEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures and then unlock Indiana Jones as a playable character for 50,000 studs. This lets them experience all six original Star Wars films from Indiana Jones’s perspective.
6. Mogu Painting
Jedi: Survivor’s Hidden Droid Painting Session
The Star Wars Jedi games from Respawn Entertainment are packed with secrets and fun references, often called Easter Eggs. While the Order 66 door in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is well-known, I think Star Wars Jedi: Survivor includes a much more amusing and entertaining one.
On Koboh, near where you find a Bilemaw at Harvest Ridge, there’s a secret area. Climb up the overhang and go behind the vines to find a hidden path. You’ll need to slide through a small opening that leads to a cave where some Bedlam Raider B1 Battle Droids are… creatively painting a Mogu.
This cave doesn’t contain any cosmetic items, and the Mogu and droids inside are just static props – finding them doesn’t unlock an achievement. However, it’s still incredibly funny to stumble upon this strange Easter Egg in Survivor, especially considering how cleverly hidden it is.
5. Atton Rand’s Acting Aspirations
KOTOR II’s Jab at Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy
The Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic games are surprisingly light on Easter eggs, considering their size. However, Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords included a funny Easter egg that poked fun at The Phantom Menace and another Star Wars game.
If you play Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords twice – once as a light side character and once as a dark side character – something special happens on your third playthrough. Atton Rand will mention he wasn’t originally meant to be in that game and was actually planned to be the main character in a different game, Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy.
The character Atton Rand was originally going to be named Jaden Korr in the game Academy. Interestingly, if players play through the game a third time and encounter Rand as a female character, he starts a conversation by playfully asking if the player is an angel. He then jokes about hoping a less fortunate person won’t use the same line, referencing a well-known quote from Anakin Skywalker.
4. The Towani Family Portrait
LEGO Star Wars’ Ode to Caravan of Courage
Traveller’s Tales’ LEGO Star Wars games are known for hiding lots of collectibles, levels, and fun references to both Star Wars and LEGO characters, and LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga has some of the very best hidden secrets.
In Wicket’s Hut within Ewok Village on Endor, players can use a character sensitive to the Force to assemble a large, fragmented portrait. Once completed, the portrait depicts the main Towani character from the first Star Wars spin-off movie, Caravan of Courage: An Ewok Adventure.
Although Caravan of Courage isn’t considered a top-tier Star Wars live-action story, it holds a special place for fans who watched it as kids. Back then, new Star Wars releases were infrequent, so it was exciting to see it included in the biggest LEGO Star Wars game ever.
3. A Space-Worthy Buick
Rogue Squadron’s Long-Running Starfighter Gag
The world of Star Wars features countless memorable spaceships, like the X-wing and The Ghost. But in Star Wars: Rogue Squadron, players get to fly a truly unique starfighter: a 1969 Buick Electra!

In the Nintendo 64 version of Star Wars: Rogue Squadron, players can unlock a special luxury car/starfighter by entering the code KOELSCH. This replaces the standard V-wing ship with a vehicle modeled after the Buick Electra, which belonged to Rudolf Stember, a developer at Factor 5.
The Buick became a running joke in Star Wars flight games. Players could fly it in every Rogue Squadron game and Star Wars: Episode I: Battle for Naboo, and it even made a quick appearance as a background vehicle flying around the city in Bounty Hunter.
2. Max, the Rabbit Detective
Dark Forces II’s Most Bizarre Addition
Usually, Easter Eggs in Star Wars games reference other parts of the Star Wars universe or playfully use Star Wars elements. However, Star Wars Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II has a unique Easter Egg that connects to a completely different game franchise.
In the Baron’s Hed area of the Fallen City on the planet Sulon, players can find a hidden character. If you wait near a house by the bridge and quickly enter when the door opens, you’ll discover Max, the rabbit detective from the Sam & Max video game series, who can help you in combat.
As a big fan, I always thought it was cool how Max ended up in Star Wars Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II. It actually makes a lot of sense when you remember LucasArts made the original Sam & Max Hit the Road. Plus, Star Wars has those rabbit-like Lepi creatures, like the smuggler Jaxxon, so it fits the universe pretty well!
1. Guybrush Threepkiller
The Force Unleashed II’s Nod to LucasArts’ History
You know how developers love to sneak little nods to their older games into new ones? Well, the team at LucasArts did that a bunch! Like, in Dark Forces II, they hid a reference to one of their nonStar Wars titles with something called the Max Easter Egg. They did it again in their last Star Wars game, The Force Unleashed II*, referencing what I think is their second most famous series – it was a cool little hidden thing to find!
Soon after landing on Cato Neimoidia, players will find a hologram of Jabba the Hutt and three alien-themed slot machines in a room decorated with statues of oddly comical figures.
Destroying all three slot machines will unlock a holocron, giving players the Guybrush Threepkiller costume. This outfit is based on Guybrush Threepwood, the funny main character from the classic Monkey Island games, and lets players battle Imperial enemies as one of gaming’s most lovable pirates.
