Man investigating “roof poop” bandit finds culprit is a mountain lion

A California man checking out some strange droppings on his roof had a surprising encounter with a mountain lion.

Bill Dabney noticed something on the roof of his Pasadena guesthouse. Upon checking, he discovered four stools. He was certain they weren’t left by a bird.

He didn’t have to wait long to discover who was making the noise. When he turned around, a large mountain lion was staring back at him from about ten yards away.

An expert said mountain lions are “extremely rare” in Pasedena

Dabney quickly ran inside his house, and luckily, the mountain lion didn’t follow him. He described the encounter, saying, “I suddenly looked over and there it was – a mountain lion, staring right at me! It looked like it was getting ready to pounce, so I just took off running.”

Just a few days after the first sighting, another person reported seeing a mountain lion in the same area. People suspect it might be the same animal, but this hasn’t been proven.

Kevin McManus from the Pasadena Humane Society explained that mountain lions are rarely seen, as they typically live in mountainous areas. He believes the recent California wildfires may be driving them to seek refuge elsewhere.

According to McManus, the recent Eden Fire caused significant damage near where cougars live. This likely explains why they’re now appearing in the area, as they search for essential resources like food, water, and shelter.

After watching the security camera footage of the animal, Dabney commented that it appeared very hungry, but he admitted he didn’t feel too much sympathy for it.
