Okay, so as a big fan of Kingdom Come: Deliverance, I was starting to worry about whether we’d ever see another game. But good news! Warhorse Studios just announced that the next installment could be out as early as next year! There’s been a lot of talk about what they’re working on, and it’s awesome to finally get a potential timeframe.
Since its 2018 release, Kingdom Come: Deliverance has been a popular RPG, praised for its realistic open world, engaging characters, and complex gameplay. In early 2025, developer Warhorse Studios released Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, improving on the original while also fixing what fans disliked. The sequel was a critical success and a strong contender for Game of the Year alongside Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. In May 2026, Warhorse confirmed rumors during a live stream that they were working on a new game set in the world of Lord of the Rings.
Warhorse Studios Announces Release Window for Next Kingdom Come Game
During a recent stream, the developers announced they’re working on a new game in the Kingdom Come: Deliverance universe, which excited fans who immediately wanted to know more. Now, Warhorse Studios is offering some clarification. Tobias Stolz-Zwilling, Communications Director, and Tom Grey, Community Manager, confirmed in a livestream that the next Kingdom Come game will be an open-world RPG, with a planned release sometime in 2027. This means we can likely expect the game between April 2027 and March 2028.
Information about the next Kingdom Come game – including its size compared to the first two – is still being kept secret. However, Stolz-Zwilling has confirmed that Prokop Jirsa (Lead Designer and now Creative Director at Warhorse) is heading up the project. Viktor Bocan, formerly Design Director, is now leading the Middle-earth game after being promoted to Creative Director following his work on both Kingdom Come games. Warhorse Studios has also assured fans that Kingdom Come: Deliverance remains important to them, even with the addition of the Lord of the Rings license.
As a huge fan of Kingdom Come: Deliverance, I was so excited to hear that Warhorse is still building on that world! They’ve said it’s always been a real passion project for them, and recent news really shows that’s true. Not only are they making a third game, but they’re also turning Kingdom Come: Deliverance into a movie! What’s even cooler is that Daniel Vávra, the original director, is leaving game development to focus entirely on making the movie happen. It’s amazing to see how dedicated they are to this universe!
