Dog shoots woman with a shotgun in Nebraska

A woman in Nebraska was taken to the hospital after a shotgun accidentally went off in a car and shot her in the arm.

On May 22nd, police in Scottsbluff, Nebraska responded to a call at the Short Stop gas station where someone had reportedly been shot with a BB gun.

But before the officers got there, they learned the weapon used in the incident was actually a real shotgun. When they arrived, they found a truck with a camper attached, and the passenger side door showed damage that looked like it had been caused by a shotgun.

The story behind the shotgun blast

Police determined the truck driver had stopped at a convenience store to make a purchase. A passenger was standing by the front passenger side of the truck, and a dog and shotgun were inside the vehicle.

The dog shifted inside the truck, and in doing so, unintentionally stepped on the trigger of a loaded shotgun, causing it to fire through the door.

So, I was testing out this new shotgun, and things took a really bad turn. A woman was stopped at a light nearby with her window down, and unfortunately, a pellet hit her arm. It wasn’t life-threatening, thankfully, and she was taken to the hospital to get checked out, but man, I feel terrible about it. It was a complete accident, but still… a really scary situation.

Scottsbluff police are continuing to investigate a recent incident and want to remind Nebraska residents that it’s against the law to carry a loaded shotgun inside a vehicle. They also urge everyone to practice safety when handling and transporting guns.
