As a seasoned crypto investor with a knack for recognizing potential in decentralized projects, I find the recent developments of Shiba Inu (SHIB) particularly intriguing. Having navigated through the crypto landscape since its inception, I’ve witnessed firsthand the transformative power of community-driven initiatives and the resilience of meme coins.

TL;DR

Shiba Inu (SHIB) is moving toward greater decentralization by launching a DAO.
The anonymous developers of the meme coin announced they will step back by the end of 2024, handing full control over to the community to further empower decentralized governance.

Shia Inu’s Next Step

The well-known meme token, Shiba Inu (SHIB), was originally introduced four years ago as an innovative and community-centric experiment in cryptocurrency. This project drew inspiration from Dogecoin‘s (DOGE) popularity and sought to expand on the idea of a decentralized digital currency.

Recently, Lucie (Marketing Strategist for Shibarium) unveiled another move towards their objective. More precisely, they are preparing to debut a Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO), also known as an autonomous entity that operates on the principles of blockchain technology and self-governance.

The statement shares that this transition gives each token holder, no matter how big or small their ownership, the ability to influence the community’s course.

As a crypto investor, I’m eagerly anticipating the implementation of the DAO. Once it’s introduced, it will empower us, the Shibizens, with greater control over decisions that significantly affect our ecosystem.

The Marketing Specialist additionally disclosed that our team plans to introduce a specific management framework, supported by two principal committees: the Charity Committee and the Culture & Heritage Committee.

“These councils will guide community projects, ranging from charitable work to safeguarding the distinct culture of Shib. Emphasizing openness and accessibility, these initiatives aim to maintain Shib’s development in alignment with the original values that have shaped it.”

More Control for the Community by the End of 2024

Last week, two individuals known as Shytoshi Kusama and Kaal Dhairya, who are among the anonymous creators of the Shiba Inu project, announced that they would be stepping down by the end of the year and transferring complete control to the community.

Kusama said this move aligns with their vision for true decentralization in the cryptocurrency space. The development is not about abandoning the project but rather “empowering the community even more than they already have.”

Although Shiba Inu operates on a decentralized platform for governance and ecosystem, the true level of decentralization can hinge upon the community’s participation in development endeavors. If the majority of the SHIB community remains idle, decision-making could potentially shift towards a smaller and more active group of participants.

Additionally, the developers said they will not reveal their identities, arguing that the power of the meme coin is based on its devoted community and not on just a few individuals.

“There’s no need for my face to become a public figure. Let the mask remain famous. The power of SHIB is not because of me or because of Kaal, it is because of the community. And that is what is most important: the technology to take Web 2 to Web 3 and the brand of a very special dog breed that has gone viral many times as a meme,” Kusama said.
