As a long-time fan of the Indiana Jones franchise, I can confidently say that the Gamescom Opening Night Live announcements were nothing short of exhilarating! The anticipation for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle has been palpable since its initial reveal, and finally, we have a release date: December 9, 2024.
Following approximately two hours of Gamescom Opening Night Live broadcasts, a massive surprise was unveiled when a boulder crashed through the giant screen, right before the spectators’ eyes. Not only did we learn that Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, much anticipated by many, will be released (date provided by Xbox-owned publisher Bethesda), but it was also disclosed that a PS5 version is expected to launch next year.
1. In the well-known Indiana Jones film series, the character is hard to define, and it’s equally challenging to find out when the new game will be released since The Great Circle was announced. Given that Troy Baker’s title has been one of Xbox’s top exclusives for quite some time now, the release date for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle remains elusive.
Thanks to the series of revelations during Gamescom Opening Night Live on August 20, 2024, we now have a release date for Jones’ next adventure – December 9, 2024. Pre-ordering the premium edition offers several perks as well, such as early access by three days and the upcoming ‘The Order of Giants’ story DLC. However, that’s not even close to the most exciting news for Indy at Gamescom.
Although Xbox previously confirmed Indiana Jones as an exclusive during their FTC trial, they’ve recently announced that Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will also be available on PS5. This upcoming action-adventure game will only have a short period of exclusivity for Xbox and PC, with a Spring 2025 release planned for PlayStation players.
It turns out to be good news for many as they can now embark on Indiana Jones’ latest journey, an adventure we highly anticipated in our previous review. However, this could potentially signal a shift in Xbox’s strategy regarding console exclusives. While there’s still a limited exclusive period, it’s more definitive compared to the uncertain ‘possibly, possibly not’ stance on Starfield’s potential release for PS5 at present.
It’s quite surprising to hear about Indiana Jones coming to PS5! For enthusiasts of the character, this means an opportunity to wield his famous whip and embark on adventures without having to invest in a new PC or Xbox.
