Ed Sheeran Records Original Song for Netflix’s Richard Curtis Film ‘That Christmas’ – Global Bulletin

SHEERAN’S SEASONAL SONG

As a music enthusiast who grew up in the UK, I can hardly contain my excitement about Ed Sheeran’s latest endeavor! Having been captivated by his enchanting melodies since his early days, it’s heartwarming to see him contributing to another heartfelt Christmas tale. The fact that he worked alongside his brother on this project makes it even more special, and I can’t wait for my kids to watch it with their uncle!

Ed Sheeran has penned and produced an original tune titled “Under The Tree” for Locksmith Animation’s forthcoming CGI movie “That Christmas,” which will premiere on Netflix on December 6. This film, directed by Simon Otto and scripted by Richard Curtis and Peter Souter, is all set to hit the screens soon.

A notable ensemble of actors lends their voices to this production, featuring Brian Cox portraying Santa, along with Fiona Shaw, Jodie Whittaker, and Bill Nighy. The plot unfolds in a coastal town where Christmas events take an unforeseen twist. Adapted from Curtis’ children’s book series, “That Christmas” represents his debut into the realm of animation. The film is produced by Nicole P. Hearon and Adam Tandy, with Curtis, Mary Coleman, Natalie Fischer, and Julie Lockhart serving as executive producers.

Ed Sheeran expressed: “Ever since having children, I’ve noticed a significant gap in the market for exceptional animated Christmas movies for kids. This project seemed like such an incredible opportunity to bring something new into existence. The scene that inspired this song is incredibly poignant and heartbreaking, yet it resonates deeply with many people who spend Christmas without their loved ones, due to various reasons. It was a unique experience to collaborate with my older brother on this venture, which is quite rare and truly special to work so closely with my only sibling. Creating something that my children can enjoy, featuring their uncle, and set in the country they reside in, felt incredibly rewarding. I find it astonishing that there aren’t more animated Christmas films for kids, but I believe this one will become a cherished holiday tradition, at least in our family.”

‘SONG STEALER’ SCALES SUCCESS

The Korean music competition show titled “Song Stealer,” broadcasted by MBC, has resonated with viewers and concluded its initial season to positive reviews. The unique format involves both cover artists and original performers in a contest, where the audience in the studio decides their favorite performance through voting.

Developed by Jang Harin, this show received MBC’s ‘Best Format Idea’ award and initially aired with two pilot episodes during the Lunar New Year in February. Due to a positive response from viewers, including more than 10 million online views, it was given a 12-episode run from May to July. Jang highlighted that the show is centered around musical appreciation rather than competition, and there’s been an uptick in streams for original versions after each episode.
