STALKER 2 Delayed Once Again, Pushes Release Date To November 2024

As a dedicated fan of the STALKER series, I have been eagerly anticipating the release of STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl for over a decade now. The journey to get here has been long and filled with challenges, but I’ve remained hopeful that this game would finally bring me back to the haunting and immersive world of the Exclusion Zone.

The long-awaited first-person shooter game STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl, developed by GSC Game World, has sadly delayed its launch again. The team needs more time to work on technical problems within the game, but they assured fans that it will still come out this year – specifically on November 20, 2024.

Initially planned for release on September 5, 2024, the developer is now working to make the Stalker 2 launch “even closer to the desired fan experience.” An update on the project is coming with a Developer Deep Dive set for August 12, in partnership with Xbox. This event will include team interviews, a look at the game’s setting and locations, and an exclusive unveiling of the story quest walkthrough.

Based on the announcement made by game director Yevhen Grygorvych in an official press release, we understand that you may feel frustrated with the delay, and we deeply value your patience. The extra two months will allow us to address more unexpected issues (which can also be referred to as “bugs”). We are thankful for your continued backing and comprehension – it means a great deal to our team. We share your excitement to launch the game and for you to enjoy it personally.

You have new PDA messages from Colonel Korshunov!

Since its unveiling in 2010, STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl underwent an extended development process marked by setbacks such as layoffs and abandoned builds. The team encountered numerous obstacles throughout this period. In a Facebook update from 2018, it was revealed that STALKER 2’s production had resumed. Three years later, a gameplay trailer made its debut at the Xbox and Bethesda E3 conference in 2021, revealing a release date of April 28, 2022.

When Russia invaded Ukraine, the development team encountered a major obstacle. In response, they posted numerous updates about their progress on YouTube, informing the public about team members leaving Ukraine to join the military or humanitarian efforts. This disruption led to a brief pause in the game’s production as some staff relocated to the Czech Republic to continue working on STALKER 2. The subtitle of this game, “Heart of Chornobyl,” was revealed during this time and is believed to have been inspired by its Ukrainian spelling, according to PC Gamer reports.
