Star Wars: The Acolyte Season 1 Has An Alternate Ending With An Odd Romantic Twist

As a dedicated fan of The Acolyte, I was both intrigued and saddened by the revelation that an alternate ending existed for this captivating series. During the finale, we saw Osha, played brilliantly by Amandla Stenberg, turn to the dark side and kill her former master, Sol, in a heart-wrenching scene. But what if things had gone differently? According to Manny Jacinto, who plays Qimir/The Stranger, an alternate ending featured a romantic kiss between Osha and Qimir!

After completing its initial run, The Acolyte’s fans are left in suspense as Disney+ ponders over the show’s future. Meanwhile, one of its actors has disclosed that an alternate finale was shot, featuring a blossoming romance between two major characters.

Caution: This section may reveal key details from the final episode of The Acolyte’s first season on Disney+. For those who have not watched it yet or prefer to be surprised, it would be best to avoid reading further.

Instead of “After trying to get Mae (Amandla Stenberg) to kill a Jedi without a weapon for most of the season, and then seeing her sister, Osha (also played by Amandla Stenberg), accomplish that deed when she avenged their mother’s death by killing her former master, Sol (Lee Jung-jae), Qimir/The Stranger (Manny Jacinto) was impressed. Later, Osha chose to learn from Qimir. In the original finale, they were planned to share a kiss.”

During an interview with Vulture, Jacinto shared, “We filmed a scene where Osha and the Stranger kissed. But after considering it, we felt that it might have been too soon for their characters to exchange such a deep gesture.”

Despite Osha’s allegiance shifting towards the dark side, there was unease amongst some about her sudden romantic involvement with the man who had eliminated several of her previous Jedi companions. This rapid development seemed implausible to many, including Jacinto, who proposed the final version of the storyline.

Jacinto remarked, “It didn’t make the final cut,” but proposed, “Instead of a kiss, how about a comforting hand-hold? A small gesture showing concern, care, and unity. If we have a Season 2, we could explore this further based on fan response.”

Disney+ and Lucasfilm have yet to announce their intentions regarding the next installment of The Acolyte, leaving numerous unresolved storylines ripe for exploration in a prospective second season. Catch up with all episodes from The Acolyte Season 1 currently available on Disney+.
